Airline Jet2.com has announced it will be creating more than 160 jobs at East Midlands Airport and has launched a recruitment drive to fill the roles.
The airline, which is one of the largest operators at the Castle Donington airport, is looking for people to fill pilot, cabin crew and ground operations roles.
It is part of a nationwide recruitment drive to fill 1,700 jobs and, as part of the process, it will be holding a series of roadshows where people can find out more about the jobs on offer.
The roadshow for the East Midlands Airport jobs will take place at the Jurys Inn Hotel at East Midlands Airport on Thursday, September 7, from 10am to 5.30pm.
It will offer the chance to meet members of the Jet2.com team, receive expert advice and information about the various roles on offer with an informal chat.
The announcement comes on the back of a successful recruitment campaign for this summer, which includes flights from new bases Birmingham and London Stansted.
This summer is Jet2.com’s busiest at East Midlands Airport, with the airline flying around 900,000 passengers to 32 destinations.
However, the company is looking to build on this next year and needs extra staff to help it meet its growth plans.
Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “It has been an exciting year for Jet2.com and Jet2holidays and we are delighted to be creating so many opportunities to join our award-winning team at East Midlands Airport.
“If you care passionately about looking after customers, we would love to see you at one of our upcoming roadshows and we look forward to welcoming you on board.”
The airline is in the process of growing its fleet - and it is in the process of adding 34 new aircraft, which is why it is looking for new pilots.
The roles that will be on offer are targeted at experienced pilots with a strong training record and the commitment, energy and flexibility required to deliver the best service to their all-important customers.
The airline’s ground operations team is responsible for ensuring that flights depart safely and on time. And Jet2.com’s cabin crew members are expected to deliver a consistently high level of safety and a VIP service to customers, working closely with the captain and the rest of the crew.
