Burger chain Five Guys confirms it is coming to Derby

Rumours that Five Guys, the well-known American food chain, is soon coming to Derby seem to have been confirmed after the firm advertised for a managerial job in the city.

There have been whispers that Five Guys was planning to open a restaurant in Derby for a while and speculation and excitement is bound to intensify following the news its looking for an assistant manager.

Rumours that the burger firm is looking at opening a branch in Intu Derby have been talked about throughout the summer - perhaps in the units recently vacated by Starbucks and the Perfume Shop or in the former Joe's Kitchen unit.

In July, one member of the public contacted the Derby Telegraph to say that the staff at the former Intu coffee store had told her this was the case. Though Intu Derby has yet to confirm this.

No details have been published yet detailing where in Derby the chain could be based.

Five Guys currently has a branches in Nottingham and Leicester as well as other locations across the country.

But it appears it is now making plans for a Derby opening by advertising for an assistant manager - a position which pays between £23,000 and £26,000 a year.

The opening lines of its job advertisement seem to suggest a new Derby restaurant will be opening soon.

It reads: "Five Guys is the fastest expanding restaurant company to hit the UK with 30 restaurants opening each year and further expansion in to Europe coming soon.

"We serve juicy burgers and perfect fries, which are prepared daily by hand. Our restaurants have an electric atmosphere filled with fanatical customers and have the best taste in rock music which can be heard from outside the doors. Another thing that makes us special … our staff love working for us."

It adds the lucky candidate will represent their Five Guys restaurant with inspirational leadership, passion, energy, knowledge and ensure every customer has a memorable experience.

The assistant manager must coach and lead their team to serve perfect burgers and perfect fries, their restaurants must be clean and their customers to return as fanatics.
