Elderly woman dies after mobility scooter crash horror

An elderly woman who was riding a mobility scooter has died after a crash involving a car.

The 93-year-old woman was in Alexandra Road in Swadlincote on Friday afternoon when she was caught in a "collision with a car".

Several people were said to have tried to help the woman after the incident at 1.30pm, but she was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital on Friday and died in hospital yesterday.

A Derbyshire police spokeswoman said officers were investigating the circumstances of the incident.

"The woman was 93 and was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital but she died yesterday."

The spokeswoman said anyone who witnessed the incident should call police on 101 quoting incident number 17000 385955.
