Police swarm over Mickleover street in operation to catch wanted man

There was a high police presence in Mickleover this morning because of an operation to catch a wanted man.

Several police cars were pictured in and around Girton Way in the Derby suburb. One reader said she had seen between 10 and 13 police cars.

Derbyshire police confirmed that officers had been in the area since 9.30am.

A spokesman for the force said a 37-year-old wanted man was now on his way to custody.

She said: “We have arrested a wanted person. He is a 37-year-old man and he is currently on his way to custody.”

At the time of publication Derbyshire police were unable to say what the man was wanted for.
