A woman collapsed in the road at the top of Maid Marian Way opposite the Central Police Station this morning.

Police and ambulance services arrived on the scene shortly before eight o’clock to assist the woman who was still conscious and was carried to an ambulance.

One woman who had seen her collapse said: “I thought she was just trying to cross the road, and then she fainted."

Members of the public had put a sheet over the woman to keep her warm and were making sure traffic on the far left-hand lane of the A6008 southbound, just off the roundabout, would go round her.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "We were called at just after 7.45 this morning.

"We have been assisting the ambulance service in relation to concerns for a woman's welfare on Maid Marian Way."
