Nottingham trams suspended due to a fire

Update: NET said trams returned to normal at around 7am.

Trams in Clifton have been suspended due to a fire.

NET issued a tweet at 6.15am to customers on Wednesday morning, explaining the fire service were on the scene between Southchurch Drive and the Clifton South stop.

The operator said NCT buses on the navy line, number 48, would be accepting tram tickets and passes.

The tweet added: "Sorry for the delay, we hope you get to your destination safely."

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) were called to a house in Southchurch Drive at 4.58am following reports of a kitchen fire.

Three crews - from London Road, West Bridgford and Highfields stations - attended.

A spokesman for NFRS told the Post that the fire had been put out by 6.24am.

It is not yet clear what caused the fire.
