A crash on the A50 near the Chellaston and Alvaston turn-offs caused miles of tailbacks this morning.

Traffic company Inrix said the incident involved a lorry and a car.

The crash, on the eastbound side of the carriageway, was between Junction 3 Chellaston and Junction 2 Alvaston.

Congestion stretched from the incident almost all the way back to Toyota Island - a distance of about six miles.

However, most of the traffic had cleared by about 9.30am.
