Hundreds of homes and businesses in city hit by power cut

Engineers in Nottingham city centre are working to restore power to more than 600 homes, offices and businesses.

The power cut has affected homes in the following postcode areas: NG1 5, NG1 4, NG7 6, and NG7 4.

Traffic lights in the NG1 postcode area have also been affect by the outage.

The power cut was first reported just after 6.33am on Thursday. At the time 667 places were left in the dark.

Update: There are now 225 homes still without power; these are all in the NG1 5 postcode area.

Western Power Distribution has sent engineers to fix the problem and power is expected to return to normal by 8am.
