Woman and two dogs rescued in Long Eaton house fire drama

Fire crews rescued a woman and two dogs from a house fire in Long Eaton last night.

The fire service were called at 8.52pm to reports of a fire at a house with people inside in Granville Avenue.

Derbyshire police were also at the scene but the cause of the fire was not believed to be deliberate.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service sent two crews from Long Eaton , and asked for help from a Nottingham fire crew.

A fire service spokesman said there were no serious injuries.

He said: “Crews confirmed that the fire was in the kitchen. They rescued one female and two dogs.

“The lady was handed over to East Midlands Ambulance Service and she did go to hospital, but we do believe that the injuries were not serious.”

He said crews left at 9.36pm.
