Two people trapped after car crash in Heanor

Two people were trapped after a car collision in Heanor this afternoon.

The crash happened outside the Mundy Arms pub on Ilkeston Road at around 5.30pm.

Fire crews from Ilkeston and Eastwood were called as well as police and paramedics from the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Firefighters said they released two people who had been trapped inside the vehicles involved after the collision.

A tweet from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "#Ilkeston_Green & Eastwood @nottsfire attended an RTC on Ilkeston Rd, Heanor. 2 vehicles involved, 2 casualties released using holmatro gear.

"@EMASNHSTrust & @DerbysPolice both in attendance also."

A picture from Derby Telegraph reader Robert Booth shows firefighters crowded next to one of the cars involved with nearby residents looking on.

It is not known what the exact medical condition of the two people released is at this stage.

According to Google Maps, the road has been partially blocked for a while causing slight delays for drivers.

Derbyshire police have been unavailable for comment.
