After months of piling on the pounds, a three-year-old rabbit has defied all odds and shed nearly two kilos of weight in just six months.
Lola is a fluffy pet, but beneath the surface was a bunny with a monstrous appetitie.
The youngster initially piled on the pounds after being fed too many high sugar carrot treats.
Her owner Karen Birks, 48, of Alfreton, recognised enough was enough and started taking her to PDSA's Pet Fit Club.
The charity, which has a Nottingham branch in Dunkirk Road, has been running the national pet slimming competition for 12 years.
Lola came overall second in recognition of her achievements.
When first weighed, she topped the scales at more than a stone, or 7.4kg.
Now Lola has changed beyond all recognition and weighs a healthier 5.6kg - a loss of 1.8kg, the largest amount ever lost by a rabbit in the history of the competition.
Ms Birks said: "I’m delighted with how well she’s done, it’s amazing.
"When they told me she was the top rabbit slimmer ever in the history of PDSA Pet Fit Club I couldn’t believe it.
"She’s got so much more energy than before and she seems a lot happier, she’s certainly a lot cheekier.
"When I see her hopping around the garden it makes me so happy because this has changed her life.
"We didn’t realise we were feeding her too much of the wrong food, but the vets and nurses have put us on the right path and now we want to keep it up."
Lola took part in a strict six-month diet and exercise programme.
Lola actually had a sweet tooth for carrots - but simply ate too many - and they have quite a high sugar content.
Due to her size, Lola had been unable to groom herself and so owner Karen Birks had to regularly clean her.
PDSA vet nurse, Sally Frith, said: "Lola has done amazingly well - to be Highly Commended and be the top rabbit slimmer in the history of Pet Fit Club is no mean feat."
This year’s winner is an eight-year-old beagle named Alfie from Middlesbrough. He lost 34 per cent of his bodyweight (10.3 kilograms or one stone and nine pounds) in the six months.
