A Canadian-themed bar offering an unusual selection of whiskeys and waffles is set to open in Derby.
True North will open its doors in the Strand Arcade in Sadler Gate in the coming weeks once the venue’s refurbishment is complete.
There are 16 bespoke cocktails on the bar’s menu which include ingredients such as pecan, maple, smoked butterscotch and bacon-washed whiskey.

And, if you fancy a mid-week tipple, happy-hour will run daily from 4pm to 8pm and every Wednesday from noon, with £5 classic cocktails.
You can expect to see things such as daiquiris, espresso martinis and gin-based southsides on True North’s classic cocktail menu.
A selection of whiskeys, gin and wine will also be available.
Freshly pressed waffles will also play a big part at the bar, and they will be available in sweet or savoury every day from open until close.
Joe Macbeth, the bar’s general manager, said: “We want to deliver really good drinks at True North but, beyond that, we also want it to be a fun and casual bar where people can feel comfortable pulling up a stool and chatting to our bartenders. It’ll be classic rock tunes, big smiles and good times.
“We also have an air hockey table which is free to play for those looking for extra entertainment.”
Joe revealed that Josh Alvey, the former bar manager at The Palfrey which was destroyed by a fire started by an unattended tea light in October, has been taken on by True North.
The company is also set to open a sister venue in Nottingham called Ginsecco.
