Drivers have been warned to expect 'severe delays' this afternoon, Wednesday, as emergency roadworks are carried out in Nottingham city centre.

One lane on Collin Street has been closed while "essential repairs" to the carriageway are carried out.

A notice issued by Nottingham City Council this morning (Wednesday, December 20) said the lane closure will be lifted before rush hour.

However, it warned that "severe delays" are expected.

There have been significant delays on the past two Wednesdays in Nottingham city centre due to crashes, late Christmas shopping, and work taking place around the Broadmarsh which mean that Collin Street is already reduced by one lane.
