A power cut at Nottingham Trent University led to it pushing deadlines back for students submitting their work online.
The power outage only affected the city campus.
The university at 10.14am to say: "We are aware of the power cut affecting the city campus and will update you with more details when we have them."
The power has since returned, but some students' deadlines have been put back.
This affected students studying journalism at the university's Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism.
Jackie Derbyshire, a lecturer, tweeted to say: "Dear All, If any CBJ students have an assessment hand in due today then please note that the deadline has been extended until 2pm on Monday 15th January due to the power cut today at the university.
"This has been authorised by department head, Carole Fleming. Thanks"
