Owner of dog which launched vicious attack must fork out hundreds

A pensioner has been fined after their dog was dangerously out of control in a Heanor street.

Graham Freestone's dog must now be muzzled in public or it will be destroyed.

The pet injured another person in Heanor Road, Heanor, on April 3 last year, Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court heard.

Freestone, 67, of Moor Lane, Osmaston, Ashbourne, was fined £310 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £500 compensation to the victim

Dominick Stewart, 23, of Mount Street, Derby, was jailed for 16 weeks, suspended for a year and was ordered to pay £28 compensation for stealing £28 of items from Superdrug in the Cornmarket, Derby, on September 21.

Steven Burrows, 49, of Coopes Garden, Ashbourne, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge for criminal damage of two car tyres at an address in Park Avenue, Ashbourne, on September 4.

Adam Davey, 28, of Maple Tree Court, Derby, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge, a 12-month restraining order and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge for assault in Derby on September 19.

Martin Stockley, 30, of Excelsior Drive, Woodville, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge for assault in Swadlincote on September 17.

Raju Alexander, 45, of St Thomas Road, Normanton, was handed a 12-month community order, with 120 hours unpaid work and was handed a three-year restraining order and was ordered to pay £75 compensation, £620 costs and an £85 victim surcharge for assault in Normanton on February 19.

Stephen Casey, 32, of Stanton Street, Normanton, was handed a 12-month community order, with 60 hours unpaid work, and was ordered to pay £85 costs, an £85 victim surcharge and was disqualified from driving for six months for driving without due care and attention, driving without insurance or a valid licence, failing to stop and failing to report an accident, all in Burton Road, Derby, on October 15, 2016.

Daniel Brockie, 26, of Church Street, Church Gresley, was ordered to pay £85 costs and £59 compensation for criminal damage at St Mary’s Wharf police station, in Chester Green, on October 17.

Gareth Cartwright, 34, of Michelle Close, Stenson Fields, was jailed for six weeks, suspended for a year and was ordered to pay £6.74 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge for stealing £6.74 of goods from Texaco service station, in Spondon, on October 5.

Blaine Repton, 22, of Buckminster Close, Derby, was fined £88 and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for failing to comply with a football banning order by not reporting to St Mary’s Wharf police station, in Chester Green, to surrender his passport between June 8 and 9.

Phillip Tew, 22, of St Mary’s Wharf Road, Chester Green, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge for criminal damage of a window in Chester Green on October 17.

Ashley Summers, 23, of Bass Street, Derby, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge for breaching a restraining order in Sandiacre between July 25 and August 9.

Avtar Singh, 48, of Bridge Street, Castle Gresley, was fined £210 and was ordered to pay £620 costs and £75 compensation for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour in Castle Gresley on May 4, 2017.

Gavin Slater, 23, of Stanley Road, Alvaston, was fined £200 and was ordered to pay £85 costs, a £30 victim surcharge and had his licence endorsed with six penalty points for driving without insurance in London Road, Derby, on December 16, 2016.

Igors Zalivskis, 43, of King Street, Burton, was handed a 12-month community order, with 100 hours unpaid work, and was handed a two-year restraining order and was ordered to pay £85 costs and £100 compensation for assault in Burton on August 30.

Rebecca Austin, 38, of Arkle Green, Sinfin, was jailed for eight weeks, suspended for a year and was ordered to pay £138 compensation for two counts of shoplifting from the One Stop shop in Sinfin Lane, Sinfin, on August 10.

Shaun Johnson, 31, of Scropton Road, Hatton, was jailed for 14 weeks, suspended for 18 months, was ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work, was handed a two-year restraining order and was ordered to pay £250 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge for assault in Hatton on June 4.

Jason Berrisford, 30, of Town Street, Duffield, was jailed for 20 weeks, suspended for two years, and was ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work and was ordered to pay £85 costs, a £115 victim surcharge and had his licence endorsed with eight penalty points for driving while disqualified and without insurance in St Helen's Street, Derby, on July 19.

Steven Smith, 30, of James Court, Burton, was fined £80 and was ordered to pay £254.98 compensation and a £30 victim surcharge for stealing a bicycle in Burton on August 20.
