Alvaston man admits growing cannabis at his home

A 33-year-old man has admitted growing cannabis at his home in Alvaston.

Raju Dharmajan appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court where he was handed a six-week community order, with curfew, and ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Dharmajan had been growing the cannabis at his Chalkley Close home between March 1 and April 27.

The following people have also recently been convicted at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court of the following offences:

Daniel Thompson, 40, of Milton Street, Cotmanhay, Ilkeston, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £85 costs, a £20 victim surcharge and £12 compensation for stealing 12 bars of chocolate from Asda filling station in Nottingham Road, Ilkeston, on September 22.

Jade Allison, 29, of Peel Street, Derby, was handed a 10-week community order, with curfew and was ordered to pay £50 compensation, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge for assault on The Wardwick, Derby, on September 2.

Jade Askew, 22, of California Gardens, Derby, was handed a 10-week community order, with curfew, and was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge for assaulting a police officer in Friar Gate, Derby, on September 22.

Kevin Boden, 31, of Mayfield Road, Chaddesden, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge for two counts of assault, in Chaddesden, on August 14.

David Fowkes, 25, of Baker Street, Alvaston, was fined £300 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour in Derby on June 24.

Ian Glover, 23, of Fennel Close, Uttoxeter, was fined £500 and was ordered to pay £150 compensation, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for two counts of assault and one of resisting arrest, in Iron Gate, Derby, on September 23.

Martin Greensmith, 38, of Shirland Court, Derby, was fined £150 and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for possessing cannabis in Sadler Gate, Derby, on September 23.

Sean Matthews, 23, of Freehold Street, Derby, was fined £200 and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for possessing cannabis in Derby on February 17.

Adam Morgan, 23, of Blackwell Avenue, Ilkeston, was fined £250 and ordered to pay £85 costs, a £30 victim surcharge and was disqualified from driving for a year for failing to provide a specimen of breath when directed in Ilkeston on September 22.

Arundeep Sandhu, 29, of Mandarin Way, Alvaston, was fined £500 and ordered to pay £85 costs, a £50 victim surcharge and was disqualified from driving for two years for failing to provide a specimen of breath when directed in Elvaston Lane, Derby, on September 24.

Tracey Staniforth, 45, of Litton Drive, Spondon, was jailed for 20 weeks, suspended for a year and was ordered to pay £500 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge for stealing electrical beauty products from Boots at Kingsway Retail Park, Derby, on July 4.

Josephine Walker, 39, of Blagreaves Avenue, Derby, was fined £400 and was ordered to pay £85 costs, a £40 victim surcharge and was disqualified from driving for a year for drink-driving in Stanier Way, Derby, on July 16.

Rolandus Sarkunas, 37, of Pinglehill Way, Derby, was fined £720 and was ordered to pay £85 costs, a £72 victim surcharge and had his licence endorsed with seven penalty points for driving without due care and attention in Snelsmoor Lane, Derby, on March 28.

Keith Blurton, 37, of Nairn Avenue, Derby, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge for assault in Derby on September 26.

Paul Sankey, 25, of Oregon Way, Chaddesden, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge, a six-month restraining order and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge for assault and criminal damage in Derby on September 27.

Joshua Bradbury-Hill, 30, of Morleston Street, Derby, was handed a 12-monthn conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge for assault in Derby on September 25.

Rahul Banwait, 23, of Otter Street, Hilton, was jailed for eight weeks, suspended for a year, and was ordered to pay £100 compensation and £85 costs for two counts of assault in Hilton on September 24.

Wassal Raja, 46, of Regent Street, Derby, was handed a 12-month community order and was ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge for breaching a non-molestation order in Derby on September 13.

Ian Woolley, 49, of John F Kennedy Gardens, Chaddesden, was handed a 12-month community order, with 60 hours unpaid work, and was ordered to pay £85 costs and £50 compensation for assault in Derby June 1.

Robert Ready, 41, of Collingwood Road, Long Eaton, was Jailed for 12 weeks, suspended for a year, and was handed a 12-month restraining order and was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge for assault in Sawley on October 13.
