Why a lot of police officers piled into the Morledge today

A large number of police cars were dispatched to the Morledge today.

Officers say they were there to make a double arrest.

A Derbyshire police spokeswoman said that two men had been arrested on suspicion of theft from the Eagle Market in the city centre this afternoon.

It is unclear as to what was allegedly stolen.

The heavy police presence in the Morledge today.

Police vehicles swarmed the area outside Derby Bus Station just before 3pm today (Tuesday, February 13) to arrest the pair.

At least two cars and two vans belonging to the police were seen with at least seven officers in total attending.

Police say this attendance was due to a double arrest.

However, by just after 3pm, most of the police vehicles had driven off leaving just one unmanned car at the scene with its blue flashing lights on.
