A rare ‘barn find’ collection of classic cars will be up for grabs in an online auction held by John Pye Auctions starting this Friday 12th April.

A total of six vehicles will go up for auction from Marchington after being previously stored in a farmland barn by a private owner who is selling them due to relocation.

The collection consists of rare vintage cars and modern classic motors including the best of British, American pre-war era and much sought after iconic German brands.

Five of the six vehicles will be sold at auction without a reserve, giving petrolheads a great chance to own their very own classic motors.

The oldest vehicle on offer is a red Dennis N Type Fire Engine, which was manufactured in 1914, and is one of only a handful of its kind still in existence. This example was owned and run by Dennis for five years before it was purchased by the Folkestone Corporation in 1919 and entered service with the Folkestone Fire Brigade.

It was purchased by the vendor in 1980 and has since been tastefully restored over several years, to ensure the vehicle stays in top condition for a classic car of its age.

One of the most exciting motors available is a 1972 Mercedes 250 Auto Saloon. With a confirmed odometer reading of just 16,100 miles, this car is a fine example of its type and has been kept in superior condition, making it a rare find.

Other vehicles on offer include a 1930s Dodge Pick Up Truck, a 1940 Leyland TSW 14T “Hippo”, a Morris Minor 1000 Traveller and a 1995 Mercedes E250D Elegance Auto Saloon with one owner and just 37,000 miles from new.

Lee Mabbutt, head of vehicles at John Pye Auctions, said: “Collections such as this are becoming increasingly rare in the UK market and there has been a great deal of anticipation surrounding this sale, with an opportunity for car enthusiasts to find something both rare and special.

“As most of the vehicles are being offered without reserve, bidders will have every chance to take on the legacy of this fascinating collection.”

John Pye Auctions Vehicles department has grown substantially since its launch in 2011 now selling more than 27,000 vehicles per year across more than 22 UK sites. These range from seized vehicles – cars, motorbikes, vans and trucks – through to prestige sports, classic and F1 cars, on behalf of a wide range of clients from Police Authorities, UK Governments bodies and HMRC through to Banks, Lenders, Insolvency Practitioners and Automotive dealerships.

The national auctioneer, which celebrated its 50th anniversary and a record-breaking trading year in 2018, now consists of six trading departments and has ploughed significant investment into expansion plans over the last seven years, opening new sites across the UK and the global market and launching in the United Arab Emirates last December.

The online auction will go live on the evening of Friday 12th April and end at midday on Thursday 25th April. Viewing is available at John Pye Auctions’ Marchington hub on Monday 15th, Friday 19th and Monday 22nd April.
