An air ambulance was called to a motorbike crash on Snake Pass this morning.

The motorcyclist, who was left with broken bones, was the only person involved in the accident, which happened at around 11.40am.

Snake Pass was closed in both directions between Ladybower Reservoir and Glossop for around two hours.

There was heavy traffic in the area while the closure was in place.

An air ambulance did land at the scene but it is not known how serious the motorcyclist's injuries were and whether or not he was airlifted to hospital.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police confirmed the road had reopened at around 1.40pm.

He said: "Police and ambulance crews were called to the road at about 11.40am to reports of an incident involving a single motorbike."
