Detectives are appealing to the public for help following an incident in which a car was driven into a wall outside house in Leicester Forest East, apparently deliberately.

The crash happened in Hinckley Road between 11pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, a spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said.

The car, a black 4x4, reversed into the outside wall and gate of the property, before then driving off from the scene, said the force.

Officers believe the car was driven into the wall on purpose.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

The car involved has not yet been located.

Detective Sergeant Fraser Macintosh, of Hinckley and Blaby CID, said: “From inquiries carried out so far, we know that there were other cars driving along Hinckley Road – a busy main road – at the time this happened.

“We also know that the vehicle may have had distinct writing or livery on it.

“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the black 4x4 being driven into the wall, or who saw a vehicle matching that description in the area of Leicester Forest East on Saturday night.

"Did you see it? Did you notice anything unusual, such as the back of the car being damaged?"

He added: "I’d also like to speak to anyone who was driving in Hinckley Road and has a dashcam installed in their vehicle. Any information you have could help with our investigation.”

Anyone who thinks they can help the investigation is asked to contact detectives by calling the police 101 number. Alternatively, they can get in touch through the force's website.
