A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a car crash on the A52 in the early hours of the morning.
Police say the accident happened at around 3am on the westbound carriageway near to the Bardills roundabout.
The road, heading towards Derby, remains closed this morning and it is not known when it will reopen. Derbyshire Live is running a blog and you can follow updates with the latest information here.
A Nottinghamshire Police statement said: "A man has been taken to hospital after a vehicle collided with a lamppost near to Bardills Roundabout at around 3am this morning.
"His injuries are believed to be life threatening.
"The force's Crash Investigation team attended the scene and remain at the scene on the A52.
"The road remains closed, so please avoid the area if possible."
The closure is reported to have caused long tailbacks on surrounding roads including the B6003 Toton Lane up to it's junction with B5010 Nottingham Road.
There is also very heavy traffic on Derby Lane A52 Westbound up to it's junction with Cow Lane.
