Tough competition

The race for reported Nottingham Forest target Loic Mbe Soh appears to be hotting up, with the PSG youngster seemingly a wanted man.

The Reds were  said to have made contact  with the French giants this week about the 19-year-old, while it was claimed Championship rivals Norwich City and Middlesbrough had made an approach last month.

La Liga side Cadiz, as well as relegated club RCD Mallorca and French side Bordeaux, were also said to be keen.

And more teams have now been added to the list of sides linked with the defender.

Transfer talk

Nottingham Forest's chances of landing Nicholas Ioannou have been rated as 50/50 as they look to fend off competition from Brescia for the Apoel defender.

Ioannou was tipped to be heading to the City Ground this week to finalise a £750,000 move having been linked with the Reds for the most of the summer.

But it emerged last night that Italian side Brescia have put a better offer on the table despite the player being keen on a move to England.

Now Greek journalist Gerasimos Manolidis, of Sportime, has offered an update on where things stand.

Cash verdict

Former Nottingham Forest boss Alex McLeish is excited by Matty Cash's move to Aston Villa and says the flying full-back looks a "talent".

McLeish, who also spent time in charge of Villa, was impressed with Cash's performances last season which made him one of the most sought after players in the Championship.

He scored three goals and registered five assists which convinced Villa to pay a reported £12m to Forest for his services which could rise to £16m in add-ons.

And McLeish, who was talking to Football Insider, believes he can be a hit in the Premier League.

Promotion prediction

Former Red Kevin Campbell has tipped Nottingham Forest for automatic promotion this season.

And, perhaps somewhat controversially, he believes bitter enemies Derby County will join them in the top two.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side get their Championship campaign up and running this Saturday, when they travel to QPR.

The target is securing a place in the Premier League, as they look to bounce back from their final day collapse which saw them miss out on the top six last term.
