Pensioner describes waking up to see his home 'smashed to smithereens'

A pensioner has described the horrifying moment that a tractor came crashing through his garden and bathroom.

Former miner Brian Harvey, 78, has lived at his property in Princes Street in Eastwood for more than 40 years and said the incident has caused him sleepless nights.

Police said the tractor was taken from a nearby farm and it crashed into the side of his property at 2.24am on Wednesday, September 9.

It is a stones throw away from the DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum.

The crash took out the entire side wall of his garden, obliterated to his shed, and caused extensive damage to his downstairs bathroom.
