A person has died after being hit by a train at a Leicestershire railway station.
Officers from British Transport Police were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Melton station at 1.36pm today.
A spokesman for the force said that paramedics attended, however, "sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene".
The spokesman added: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Residents reported seeing a large police presence near the Leicester Road industrial estate in Melton, near the train line, and an air ambulance was also reported to have been in the area.
