Two arrested over M1 lorry chase that lasted for ten junctions

Two men have been arrested after police chased a suspected stolen lorry up the M1.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit were patrolling the motorway at around 3.45am yesterday morning. They saw a lorry at Junction 26 and tried to pull it over as they believed it to be suspicious.

But it is alleged that the driver failed to stop and a police chase followed.

South Yorkshire Police and a police helicopter were called in but it was 36 miles before the lorry was finally stopped, at Junction 36.
