Live updates as crash on the A38 causes miles of queuing traffic

A crash on the A38 has caused miles of congestion - and closed a busy junction.

The incident happened on the northbound carriageway, between the junctions for Ripley and the Watchorn roundabout, Derbyshire Live reports.

Highways England Tweeted: "A38 NB Ripley to Watchorn. We are currently dealing with a road traffic accident and have a lane closure in place."

The northbound junction at Ripley has been closed while recovery works take place.

Highways England added: "There are currently 3.5 miles of congestion on approach to this A38 northbound incident.

"Please add an extra 30 minutes onto your normal journey time. More updates to follow."
