A learner driver was shot at with paintballs from a passing vehicle that was travelling at high-speed on a country lane.

The driver and his mother, who do not wish to be identified, were driving around Breedon on the Hill on Saturday.

At around 4.45pm, they turned down Moor Lane and were approached by two small white hatchbacks travelling at high speed, said the student's mother.

"I’d left home and my son was driving us to Shepshed to feed a client's cat," she said.

"We turned onto Moor Lane. Just past the turning for Tonge two small white hatchbacks were approaching at high speed.

"They were quite far over towards our side of the road
