A lot has happened since Health Secretary Matt Hancock stood at the Stay Alert, Control the Virus, Save Live, lectern on June 18 and dropped the bombshell that Leicester was experiencing a coronavirus outbreak into the then daily 10 Downing Street briefings

And yet Leicester remains singled out from the majority of the rest of the country, with extra restrictions in place.

Here’s a look back at the sequences of events and bitter political rows that led us to this point

JUNE 1

Children in reception, year one and year six, returned to school for the first time in weeks across the city as restrictions were eased for primary schools.
