Work starts on big cycle path improvements through Derby

Work has started in Derby on a new £500,000 project designed to enable cyclists to ride safely between the city centre, the Wyvern retail park, the new footbridge over the A52 and Pride Park.

A new cycle path on the grass verge between Chequers Road and the A52 is being built.

The new path will link the existing pedestrian and cycle path at Pentagon Island and the existing cycle path adjacent to the Costco store.

New street lighting will also be installed on the southern side of Chequers Road. Work should take ten weeks to complete.

The program forms part of Derby City Council's £161 million joint bid with Nottingham City Council to the Department
