Derby primary school tells year groups to stay at home due to Covid-19 case

A Derby primary school has told some year groups to stay at home after a case of Covid-19 was recorded.

A number of pupils from Brackensdale Primary School, in Walthamstow Drive, Mackworth, have been told to self-isolate due to the virus case.

Dr Robyn Dewis, director of public health at Derby City Council, confirmed the news and said the authority is working with the head teacher and Public Health England to ensure the school can fully reopen as soon as possible.

He said: “Following a confirmed case of Covid-19 associated with Brackensdale Primary, the head teacher has decided to temporarily close some sections and year groups.
