Cargo flights into East Midlands Airport are soaring as more people order goods online during the coronavirus pandemic.

Lockdown lifestyles have led to freight passing through the airport to rise by about a fifth, compared to this time last year.

That means while passenger flights have been dropping in the pandemic, cargo flights are easily able to use some of that extra capacity at East Midlands Airport.

Aboudy Nasser, the group aviation director for the airport’s owners, MAG, said: “The last few months have seen a seismic shift in the way we live our lives.
