Hundreds of tonnes of straw went up in smoke overnight, just three days after a similar incident in the county.

Approximately 500 tonnes of bailed straw was involved in a blaze off Valley Road, Weston by Wellend, between Market Harborough and Medbourne last night.

Crews from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire at around 12.25am today, and one crew remains at the scene this morning.

The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.

On Monday this week, there was a similar incident, involving around 1,000 bales of hay burned through the night at a farm in West Langton, also near Market Harborough.
