'No tests at A&E' - health bosses urge people not to go to Leicester hospitals or GPs for coronavirus tests

Patients turning up at A&E and GP surgeries asking for coronavirus tests have prompted health bosses to remind people how to access tests.

The testing system is experiencing difficulties across the country, including here in Leicester, leaving many unable to book an appointment to be swabbed for Covid-19.

LeicestershireLive has covered the situation with one person being offered an appointment in Aberdeen, while another was turned away from an ‘empty’ testing centre.

Professor Azhar Farooqi, a Leicester GP and chair of Leicester City Clinical Commissioning Group said: “We understand that some people are having difficulty accessing a test but people must follow the process and book online or call 119.
