A leading committee for GPs in Nottinghamshire has blasted coverage of an NHS letter supposedly threatening action to practices not offering face-to-face appointments.
The Nottinghamshire Local Medical Committee (LMC) says a letter from the NHS "reiterating the importance" of in-house appointments is a "slap down" to doctors working during the pandemic.
It follows an open letter from NHS England to all GP practices encouraging them to offer the face-to-face option.
In the letter, NHS chiefs warn that a failure to do so is a "breach of contract" and could lead to increased pressure on hospitals.
