Park curfew introduced in Oadby and Wigston in bid to bring coronavirus rates down

A curfew will be introduced in all Oadby and Wigston parks, in an attempt to bring the area’s coronavirus infection rate down.

Oadby and Wigston Borough Council’s leader Councillor John Boyce announced the move this afternoon.

He said: ”The council has also taken the difficult decision to place a curfew on all our parks from 5pm through to 7am each day and this commences on Thursday 17 September 2020.”

A spokesperson for the authority said: "The curfew will be patrolled and those in breach may be prosecuted and fined."

Coun Boyce also said he ‘encouraged’ residents to follow the Leicester City local restrictions after the borough’s rates have risen ‘exceptionally sharply’.
