Family pay tribute to 'lovely, helpful and caring' motorcyclist who died in crash with van

The family of a motorcyclist who died in a road collision have paid tribute to their "lovely, helpful and caring" relative.

Declan Toyne, 24, better known locally as Dec Smedley, died after his motorcycle collided with a van in Mansfield.

Emergency services were called to Berry Hill Lane at its junction with Lindhurst Lane at around 2.50pm on September 6.

The motorcyclist, now known to be 24-year-old Declan, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where he died hours later.

Following the death, tributes have been placed near the scene of the crash at what is described as 'Dec's tree'.

These include flowers, pictures, balloons, a motorbike helmet and a plaque in
