Nottingham businesses say returning students will help them recover from Covid impact

Restaurants, supermarkets and taxi drivers are all hopeful that university students returning for Freshers' Week will give them a "welcome boost" as they continue to recover economically from the pandemic.

Students at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and the University of Nottingham have begun to move into accommodation this month and some of the city's most popular businesses among this demographic are keen to welcome them as customers once again.

Non-essential retailers were forced to close for nearly three months over the lockdown as the UK's Covid-19 rates continued to rise and there are now expectations that students can contribute towards a recovery.
