Staff 'swore' and 'deceived' inspectors over PPE at luxury care home rated inadequate

Staff at a luxury Melton care home have been accused of swearing in front of residents and being ‘complicit in deceiving’ inspectors about the use of PPE.

People living at The Amwell, on Asfordby Road, Melton, were ‘unnecessarily exposed to the risk of Covid-19’ because management and staff were not wearing the right PPE, the Care Quality Commission also said.

Inspectors were sent to the purpose-built home which has a cinema, bistro, gym and spa, after a number of concerns were reported to the CQC about the home’s collaboration with health and social care professionals and use of PPE as well as other issues.
