Fashion designer Paul Smith came from very humble beginnings - he first operated out of a tiny shop in Nottingham after leaving school with no qualifications.
His business now has 15 shops in the UK and 200 more worldwide, including in Milan, New York and Tokyo.
Sir Smith has built a fashion empire with a turnover of more than £325 million, synonymous with classic British tailoring and style, but still resides in Nottingham - operating out of a shop at Willoughby House in Low Pavement.
And in 2020, which is the 50th anniversary of his label, the Beeston-born designer has received a special award from the Queen.
Sir Smith has been named as a Companion
