Man arrested on suspicion of arson after person rescued from burning house

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after another man was rescued from a burning house by firefighters.

The rescued man was helped from the property in Leicester Road, Countesthorpe, and taken to hospital after the alarm was raised at 8.25pm yesterday.

Police arrested a 40-year-old man from Leicester at the scene of the blaze.

The rescued man was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary but later discharged.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called at 8.34pm yesterday (Tuesday 13 October) by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service reporting their attendance to a fire at an address on Leicester Road in Countesthorpe.
