Plans have been proposed to "bring more people" into a Nottinghamshire district by upgrading two railway stations.

Ashfield District Council has proposed reopening the disused Maid Marian Line so it can operate from Kirkby-in-Ashfield railway station and Sutton Parkway to bring passengers to the proposed HS2 station planned in Toton.

Businesses based in Kirkby-in-Ashfield town centre have said if the plans were implemented after the pandemic, they could help trade pick back up.

The council is seeking public feedback on the proposals which form part of the 'Kirkby Town Centre Masterplan' to regenerate the area.
