Pedestrian rushed to major trauma unit after Earl Shilton accident

A pedestrian suffered "potentially life-changing" injuries in a collision with a van in Earl Shilton today.

Emergency services were called to Station Road shortly before 9am.

The casualty was taken to the major trauma unit at the University Hospital of Coventry, at Walsgrave.

Leicestershire Police said they were alerted to the incident by East Midlands Ambulance Service, whose crews were first on the scene.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "We were called at 9.03 am today (Thursday October 15) by East Midlands Ambulance Service reporting their attendance at a road traffic collision in Station Road, in Earl Shilton, involving a van and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian sustained potentially life-changing injuries and was taken to
