False alarm after police and fire service rush to report of 'plane crash' in East Leake

Burning leaves may have led to emergency services being called to a false alarm reports of a 'plane crash' in East Leake.

Upon arrival three fire crews and a police helicopter were unable to find any trace of such incident despite a "thorough search".

Residents took to social media and messaged Nottinghamshire Live after a large amount of fire engines descended on Gotham Road, near the British Gypsum service centre, shortly after 8pm on October 15.

They had reported hearing of a "plane crash".

The National Police Air Service (NPAS) also dispatched a helicopter to assist with the search for any signs of a downed light aircraft.
