Oadby and Wigston borough has passed the unwanted milestone of having had 1,000 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic.
Latest Department of Health and Social Care’s (DHSC) latest figures show there have now been 1,007 accumulated Covid-19 infections among people living in the borough.
The area is in the Tier Two high risk category for local lockdown measures - along with neighbouring Leicester - where social mixing indoors is restricted.
Latest analysis from public health bosses at Leicestershire County Council shows the seven day infection rate in the borough is the highest in the county at 178.8 cases per 100,000 people.
