A Nottingham school has worked towards greater inclusivity among its pupils by overhauling its religious education curriculum.
Old Basford School on Percy Street has sought to promote understanding and combat discrimination between those of different religions and ethnicities, in efforts that have seen the school recognised nationally.
The primary school saw religious studies as a subject it could heavily invest in to bring about these aims along with educational off-site visits and assemblies to celebrate different cultural backgrounds.
This focus saw Old Basford School finish third in the annual Accord Inclusivity Award, and is one of only four schools nationally to be recognised this year.
