The Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police said there will 'less encouragement and more enforcement' as some residents continue to flout the law and hold house parties.
A heavy police presence will be seen across the city and towns this weekend to target large gatherings and house parties in the wake of the recent spike in coronavirus cases.
Last weekend, 10 students were issued £200 fines, and there was even a birthday party in West Bridgford and a hot tub party in Retford broken up by officers.
Police said handing out fines was always a 'last resort' but after the large rise in cases across the city their tactics have now changed.
