School which shut down and left a 'hole in community' could be restarted

An independent early years school which shut down due to financial reasons could be restarted in a Nottinghamshire village.

Proposals have been submitted for the school to be created on land off Awsworth Lane, opposite Trinity Farm, Cossall, near Ilkeston.

A planning statement, in an application submitted to Broxtowe Borough Council, clarified the project was to 'restart' a school.

"Michael House School, The Field, Shipley, Heanor, Derbyshire, was a Steiner Waldorf independent school that existed for at least 60 years and was a strong presence in the local and wider community," the statement read.

"Unfortunately the school closed down for financial reasons, leaving a hole in our community.

"We want to restart
