For most people, the first day of university means you have probably followed the expected path in life.
After all, most people go to school, do their A-levels and then a degree before entering the scary real world.
However, for some people their path is not that clear-cut.
And that is the case for one of the University of Lincoln’s newest students, Mustapha Ismail.
The now 19-year-old lost his mum, who died during child-birth, and spent the first couple of years of his life living in Afghanistan in Jalalabad in the Nangarhar Province.
