With more Brits starting to reach for their thermostat as the colder nights draw in, Lincolnshire developer Barratt Homes is encouraging homebuyers to consider the benefits of a more energy efficient home.

Research from Migrate found that Thursday 17th October was the 2019 date when the UK collectively turned on their heating, meaning it’s now well into peak energy season when homebuyers will see their bills increase.

Due to the pandemic, people are spending more time at home than ever before, meaning energy bills from working at home are set to increase. As new build properties are designed using the latest methods of modern construction, a Barratt home is 65% more energy efficient than an older house with modern day improvements.

With cost being the main consideration for those putting the heating on (80%), just under half (40%) of those surveyed by Migrate revealed that they would delay turning the thermostat on due to the cost.

Jan Ruston, Sales Director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said: “Our new homes are significantly more insulated and therefore more energy efficient than older properties, so not only does this save our customers on their energy bills, there are also huge benefits to the environment.

“We understand homebuyers’ needs are changing as they begin to spend more and more time at home, and our properties are expertly designed to accommodate this.

“As the cold weather sets in, people are concerned about the energy efficiency of their homes and want to know they’ll be able to keep them warm in the winter and save money in doing so.”

Customers at Barratt Homes will have peace of mind knowing that they don’t have to spend more on heating their brand new home as they could save up to £1,410 per year in energy spend compared with a Victorian house of the same style.

These are built in a sustainable and responsible way to ensure buyers get the most for their money with a cheaper, greener and more energy efficient property.

Barratt Homes North Midlands is currently building quality homes at a range of developments in Lincolnshire including Newton’s Place in Grantham and The Furlongs in Bourne, which are over 95% and 90% sold respectively.
