Pictures have emerged which appear to show vehicles ignoring the temporary road closure in Victoria Embankment.

Nottingham City Council closed a section of the road at the beginning of August, to create a traffic-free area in a bid to improve access to the riverside, parks and gardens.

The decision has caused some criticism, but it has also been welcomed by walkers and cyclists.

However some motorists have appeared to ignore the closure completely and drive around the barriers using the grass verge near the river, as these pictures show.

Taken at around 3.45pm on Thursday (November 19), a white van and a car can be seen at the barrier.
